Moonshine was one of our first projects, designed 20 years ago, and lived in by us since 2002. In the intervening period much has changed in terms of knowledge around airtightness, insulation and building performance. This ‘deep’ retrofit addresses many of the things that were compromised originally, in part because when we (self) built the house initially, every material had to be carried by hand along a woodland path for 1/2 a mile due to (then) having no car access. The house is now super insulated, super airtight and semi autonomous.
